Arsenal AAU Basketball Athlete and Parent Code of Conduct

We’re excited to have you on our team. Our program's success depends on mutual respect, commitment, and dedication from both players and parents. This form outlines the expectations for athletes and their families, ensuring a positive and supportive environment.

Parent/Guardian Code of Conduct

As a parent/guardian, I agree to:

  1. Support: Encourage and support my child’s efforts in basketball without placing undue pressure on them.

  2. Respect: Treat coaches, referees, players, and other parents respectfully. I will avoid questioning or criticizing officials or coaches during games. As a spectator, I will not intervene with coaching by yelling advice to my child during games

  3. Positive Reinforcement: Focus on the positives in my child’s performance and efforts rather than the game's outcome. I will not belittle or ridicule anyone involved in a youth sporting event–in public, private, in-person, or online.

  4. Communication: Use proper channels to address concerns, such as scheduling a meeting with the coach outside of practice or game times.

  5. Attendance: Ensure my child attends practices, games, and team events on time.

  6. Sportsmanship: Model good sportsmanship and encourage it in my child.

Athlete Code of Conduct

As an athlete, I agree to:

  1. Commitment: Learn the value of commitment by arriving on time and participating in as many practices and games as possible.

  2. Respect: Always show respect to teammates, coaches, referees, and opponents. I will not belittle or ridicule anyone involved in a youth sporting event, whether in public, private, in-person, or online.

  3. Effort: Always give my best effort on and off the court. I will be a great teammate and actively work to maintain a positive attitude regardless of my individual performance.

  4. Sportsmanship: Win with humility and lose with dignity.

  5. Communication: Address any concerns or conflicts with the coach directly, respectfully, and privately.

  6. Discipline: Follow the coach’s instructions and adhere to team rules at all times.

Social Media: Refrain from negative comments, inappropriate behavior, or language on social media that reflects poorly on the team.

Repercussions for Misconduct

Athlete Consequences:

  1. First Offense: Verbal warning from the coach, a reminder of expectations.

  2. Second Offense: Suspension from one practice or game, with parent notification.

  3. Third Offense: Suspension from multiple practices/games, parent-coach meeting required.

  4. Severe Misconduct: Dismissal from the team without refund (e.g., physical violence, bullying, repeated disrespect).

Parent Consequences:

  1. First Offense: Verbal warning and a reminder of expectations.

  2. Second Offense: Required meeting with the coach or program director.

  3. Third Offense: Suspension from attending games or team events for a period of time.

  4. Severe Misconduct: Permanent ban from attending games/events or, in extreme cases, dismissal of the athlete from the program without refund. (e.g. threatening or bullying athletes or other parents; repeated disrespect will not be tolerated)

By clicking submit, you agree to uphold the values of respect, effort, and sportsmanship in the Arsenal program. Let’s work together to make this season a great experience!
